Very rudimentary book that was poorly edited.

This book mentions hacking a web site and attempting "cracking" passwords and then goes on to name a few software "tools" that are used in password cracking attempts. I wouldn't even say it scratches the surface of hacking. Don't waste your money on this. Furthermore it needs editing. There are many grammatical errors.

Good guide to begin understanding terms etc. There was some useful information about the difference between white hat (ethical) and black hat hacking. Lots of examples and even some program suggestions were given for beginners and advanced users alike. I like that it was available for the kindle app so I could read it on my phone.

About the Author
Frederick Harris is an artist who has lived in Japan for over fifty years. Raised in New York City, he attended a special high school for students talented in art and music before pursuing further art education at various colleges in the US. At the Art Students League he was introduced to the Japanese woodblock print by the well-known printmaker Martin Lewis. After serving in the armed forces in Korea, he moved to Japan to establish an art studio. He currently resides in Tokyo with his Japanese wife.

I got this book for its beautiful reproductions of Japanese prints, and was not disappointed. It does contain some explicit prints, if that is going to bother you, but they are a part of the history of this art form.

I like the organization and approach

I've several books on Ukiyo-e, but like this one due to its thematic development, and the broad range of topics, including the later ukiyo-e with foreigners! Even though I've read several books on ukiyo-e by different masters and on different topics, I found this much more informative, and now understand several repeated characters, themes, and symbols much better than I did before.

It not only has great color prints but with each of them the author's analysis of that print which often includes a broader historical perspective. Step One: Acquire several unnaturally large monkeys

First, kudos to Amazon for getting this to me in an incredibly quick manner. Five stars!

Second, the review:

I enjoy reading these satirical 'handbooks' and have read several. My favorite is the "Action Hero's Handbook", which is essentially a "Worst Case Scenario" book with a James Bond flare. THIS is not a book like that. You will not find real-world advice for outlandish situations in this book. Instead you will find fictional-world advice for situations that are probably perfectly reasonable within the laws of a comic book universe. Overall it is surprisingly well thought out and the humor is present throughout.

The presentation is nice as well. Readability is good, the writing is always very basic and understandable. The cover design and interior artwork is nice and the parchment texture on the pages gives the book character. Points there.

I will throw in that this is a PG-13 book. Where many of these kinds of books excersise a bit of restraint for the sake of younger readers, this one seems to assume (rightly) that the average reader is going to be a young adult who has read WAY too many comics and if probably used to seeing a few swears and innuendos in a book. I'm not knocking any points off because I fall into this group.

Overall, I give it 4.5 stars, but I can't do that on Amazon, so I'm opting for the full 5.

If your into this sort of thing, give it a try. If you're not... go read something else. If you're on the fence, give it a try anyway. You never know.

Jeffrey R. Starke, MD, has been the Director of the Children's Tuberculosis Clinic at Ben Taub General Hospital and Texas Children's Hospital in Houston, Texas, for 30 years. He has published over 120 articles and 40 chapters on childhood tuberculosis. He has served on numerous advisory and guideline groups, and is a former Chairman of the U.S. CDC Advisory Council for the Elimination of Tuberculosis.

Peter R. Donald, MD, is Emeritus Professor in the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Stellenbosch University, South Africa. He is active in various tuberculosis research activities focused on anti-tuberculosis drug assessment in adults and children and various aspects of the management and treatment of childhood tuberculosis. He continues to lecture on childhood tuberculosis throughout the world.

I am a childhood tuberculosis researcher and clinician. Jeffrey Starke (U.S.A.) and Peter Donald (South Africa) are two of the most recognized experts in childhood tuberculosis in the world. They have compiled chapters from other experts that are clear and concise and align neatly with their vision of the book as an accessible and valuable resource for clinicians. I have really enjoyed this product. I have had no issues with it and have found everything to be great about it.
When I purchased this item it arrived brand new and in fantastic condition. It was packaged neatly and arrived in a timely fashion. I love prime shipping as I always get my products on time and they are packaged super nice so you never have to worry about if your product will be good or not.
This really takes the worry out of buying products like this at a discount from amazon. When I got this product I was very pleased and excited to use it. I can tell you that I still use this to this day and remained pleased with it. If ever this product breaks (which I doubt because of the high quality) I will be purchasing another of the same to replace it.
When a customer is not only willing but wanting to come back to the same product over and over again because they are so pleased that really says how great the product is. The price of this and the quality do not go together and the price is much lower compared to the quality of the product. I would recommend this product to anyone looking who may be curious if this is really what they need or not. I have been very pleased by it and I think you will be too. There is negative comments or concerns about this product that I can mention.
